Heartland Senior Services (HSS) is beginning to plan for our re-opening. At this time, we are planning to re-open in June, 2021. More details will be announced soon here on our website and on our Facebook page.

Once our building is open to the public again, seniors wanting to participate in any of our Adult Day Programs will need to provide proof of vaccination and be two weeks past their final vaccination date.

HSS will continue to look to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), World Health Organization (WHO), and Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds regarding best practices in containing the virus. At this time, these guidelines will not require vaccinated person to adhere to any social distancing or mask wearing protocols.

Continued changes to available services at this time:

  • HSS and MGMC will continue to provide Meals on Wheels to those 60 and above that reside in Story County using ‘social distancing’ and other precautionary measures during each delivery
  • Congregate meal participants can be added to the Meals on Wheels program
  • Outreach Services will continue and Specialists will connect with seniors via the phone and by email.
    • We are shifting our services to ensure our seniors have these necessities during this unprecedented time. Please reach out if you need assistance getting groceries and/or medications.

The HSS phone line (515.233.2906) will be staffed Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM to 3 PM for anyone who has questions or concerns. We sincerely appreciate all of our seniors, their families and our staff who are sacrificing for the greater good during this challenging time.
